Title: HowTo: Improve Firefox Forms Description: Enhanced Firefox forms Linux Version: SuSE v9.x, Firefox 1.03
Question?
Have you noticed forms in Firefox appear a little tight (ex. www.google.com/firefox, the button sits just underneath the input box)? If so, I have the solution (see screenshot). The attached tar file fixes the default style sheet and adds some new objects (png's) to make Firefox under linux the best I have seen.
Here's the solution!
1) Save the attached "ff_forms" file to a folder on your hard disk. In my case I placed it in a folder I created named /home/<username>/MyTmp. <username> is your login name. However, you may use any folder of your choosing. 2) Extract the contents of "ff-forms.tar.gz" (ie. right click and then extract here). The result will be a folder named "res" containing the files you need (ie. /home/<username>/MyTmp/ff-forms.tar.gz_FILES/res). 3) Open a terminal session and change to root (ie. su & <return>). You will be prompted for the root password. 4) Copy new files to Firefox directory. ie. cp /home/<username>/MyTmp/ff-forms.tar.gz_FILES/res/*.* /opt/MozillaFirefox/lib/res
If you are prompted to over-write a file respond with a yes.
6) Exit your terminal session and delete the source files/directory from "/home/<username>/MyTmp". All done! Open firefox and enjoy .... Cheers .... Disclaimer: This works for Firefox v1.03 under Gnome v2.10 Suse v9.3. It may work under other versions as well. Any updates to Firefox may require you to re-run this process, so save this file on your hard disk. Credits: Ubuntu forum.
